Jalaya was originally released in 2012,
with a cover designed to match the anthology it was included in. This year, we
decided it needed a cover that better reflected what it was about. Yes, Jalaya
is about battle, and soldiers keeping people safe from raiders, BUT it is also
about two people, forced to choose duty over their hearts, getting a second chance to
both save their people and reunite. We think this cover says that a bit better than
the last.
Michael has helped the villagers
survive the invasion for ten years. This year, he cannot. Cut off from escape,
their only hope of salvation is to return to the village, and pray. Returning
to the village means returning to his fiancé, forced by a secret family
tradition to remain, when duty called him to leave. But reunions will have to
wait. First they have to bring their people home.
